Open Mic with Doppelganger

Here is where the indie spirit comes alive!! Doppelganger Open KL Mic Open Stage is a brand well known amongst the indie scene for producing hundreds of gigs and music events since 2002. Over 500 individuals; singer songwriters, bands, poets, in fact performers of any kind have come through a Doppelganger stage to strut their stuff. In fact, that's usually the first place from where they start. The concept is such that the gigs move around various venues in the Klang Valley like No Black Tie, Liquid, La Bodega Tengkat Tong Shin (now closed), Marketplace KL, SohoKL at Solaris Mont Kiara, Urban Attic, Artista in Tropicana City Mall, Skypark Subang Airport, Laila's Lounge amongst others.

The stance has always been, start your first performance at Doppelganger Open Mic, and we'll help you improve by getting you shows. It's all about pitching the indie acts to Clients who are not familiar with the indie turf. But it's a start. And in the past 2 years, more and more corporate clients have sat up and listened to the power of the indie folks. Doppelganger's team helped produce the Selangor Indie Concert at Shah Alam in August 2009 where indie acts performed on one of the largest stages in their lives! Over 60 feet wide! Now that's huge! The team also managed to organise a gig and a concert in Sydney, Australia in September 2009 - as a part of its the international Indie Youth Fest tour.

Once a year, Doppelganger Open Mic will organise a giant gig called Independent Youth Festival. Each year, the season celebrates digital + DIY culture with an exciting line-up of bands and acoustic singers performing LIVE. It is also the ONLY festival which brings together pro-gamers, casual gamers, indie bands, bloggers, beatboxers under one roof.
